ˇ@ˇ@ˇ@ˇ@"Chipin & Kaiya" is a very special combination. Violinist Chi-pin  Hsieh and Pianist Kai-ya Chang are two musicians that majored in  classical music, then went to Europe to study jazz music for years  and graduated with master's degrees from the Jazz Department of  Royal Conservatory Brussels (Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel),  Belgium. After they went back to Taiwan in July 2002, they  earnestly and enthusiastically performed in different places with  various themes, and invited special guests to join their  performance. They revealed an elegant music style with breadth and  depth, and interacted with the audiences in a humorous way to  present the relaxing aspect of jazz music.

ˇ@ˇ@ˇ@ˇ@Their compositions also reveal the broad vision of the new  generations of jazz musicians. They not only integrated the  Taiwanese traditional music into their music, but also merged the  music elements from all over the world to present a kind of music  which full of the life scenes and landscapes in Taiwan. In August  2003, they performed at the  "Taiwan New Jazz" concert at the  National Recital Hall and were well-received. In March 2005, they  were invited to perform in the Java International Jazz Festival in  Jakarta. After the performance the violinist Chipin immediately  performed with the famous jazz pianist D.D. Jackson in Taipei, and  then they cooperated with famous performer of Taiwanese opera Mei- yun Tang to present five concerts that integrated traditional and  modern music elements. In 2007, they traveled far to Europe for  recording their second quartet album ˇ§Mr. BeBuˇ¨ with some great  contemporary musicians. The new album extends the concept of their  first duo album "Impressions of Taiwan" and presents an  international pattern.

ˇ@ˇ@ˇ@ˇ@"Chipin & Kaiya's Jazzsiteˇ¨ ( http://www.chipin-kaiya.com ) is also  the most professional and vivid jazz educational and promotional  website in the Chinese speaking area. Since 2000 the jazzsite  launched, there are already more than three hundred thousand  visitors from Taiwan, Mainland China, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan and Korea, etc, the contents still keep growing  over last 7 years, and the website is well-known and authoritative.  In the education field, they teach in the graduate school of music  and music department of Shih-Chien Univerty, Ming Chuan University  and organize Taipei International Summer Jazz Academy (TISJA) and  related Festival that were first happened in Taiwan for reaching  it's fifth year. Besides the TISJA and the Jazz Festival, they  were invited to hold many well-acclaimed theme-based interactive  lectures by National Chiang Kai Shek Cultural Center (National  Concert Hall), Council for Cultural Affairs, Fubon Art Foundation, K.H.S. Music Co. and Music Center of Ministry of EducationˇKetc. From 2006, they cooperated with Department of Department of  Cultural Affairs of Taipei City Government to present 10 lectures  of Jazz Music Appreciation in the intersection of spring and summer  every year, and introduced the profound jazz music in simple terms  by interactive humor. The ability to play, to write and to teach  make them become one of the major force to spread jazz music, and  bring more vitality to the jazz scene in Taiwan!
